Mike Bacigalupo and
Jeff Yantz spoke to Rotary about the
upcoming return of the Mitten State Music Revival scheduled for May 11, 2019.
Last year's MSMR was a great success even though it was the first time.
This year the show will be bigger and better and the organizers hope to attract even more people.
The event is a joint project of the two Bay City Rotary Clubs (morning and noon) and the Friends of the Historic Masonic Temple. It brings out musical artists and showcases the performance spaces of the historic temple. Proceeds go to the three organizations as well as to artists.
This year's show will kick off with a Bay City tradition: POLKA! The entire first hour will feature some of the best polka musicians in the area. "We called everyone and found that most were playing masses in church. One band said they would skip mass and headline our event."
Unique to this type of program is the chance for area musicians to hear each other. In most cases, one band will play an entire event. It this case, many bands will be at the same event and can hear each other play. That's a great opportunity.
There are a number of changes from last year. One of those is that the more "aggressive" groups will be scheduled to play later in the evening. That should help alleviate cases like last year where loud music in one room overpowered quieter groups playing in another room.
Look for "musicians in the round". Singers and songwriters will perform for the audience but also for each other. Everyone is looking forward to this experience.
Everyone who came to last year's revival had a great time. This year promises to be more and better. Don't miss it on May 11, 2019.

If you did NOT receive our invoice, please contact the secretary.
In the day's "
Rotary Foundation Minute",
Carrie Strohkirch, talked about the ways that the Rotary Foundation recognize contributors. Most Rotarians are familiar with the Paul Harris Fellow which is awarded for a gift of $1,000 (which may be given over time). Each additional $1,000 earns a new level: PH+1, PH+2, etc. Other designations include the sustaining member who gives on a routine basis. High-level givers may qualify as a benefactor. There is also the Paul Harris Society and the Bequest Society.
The club will meet off-site on these dates:
