Nothing in the recent history of Bay City can compare to the Uptown development.

A whole new aspect to the central part of the city has emerged from a brownfield site that once was home to a company that built the largest cranes in the world.

"Three years ago, we held our Anchor Tenant ceremony at the site of Uptown Bay City. Today, the site is now a sprawling 35-acre community, thanks to our Anchor Tenants. Please enjoy this construction progress time-lapse video, capturing the past 3 years:

Shaheen Development's website further states: "An extension of the already thriving downtown with brownstones, sidewalk cafés, and locally-owned shops, Uptown Bay City will be the center of bustling commerce, urban living, and vibrant sophistication.

"Uptown Bay City lies at the heart of the Great Lakes Bay Region, a diverse group of communities collaborating toward strengthening the region as a whole. The Great Lakes Bay Region is home to the headquarters of multiple global corporate leaders, including the Dow Chemical Company, Dow Corning Corporation, Hemlock Semiconductor Group, and Nexteer Automotive.

"The region also contains two of the top three destinations in Michigan, Birch Run and Frankenmuth, and has proximity to major markets -- Detroit, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Chicago and Canada."
