Saginaw Future President JoAnn Crary stated, "The interest in Saginaw's Downtown and Old Town districts continue to build and you can really feel the energy and a sense of community spirit. When you combine that with significant growth in manufacturing and transportation related projects, it has been a great year for Saginaw County business."

Construction has begun on a FedEx Ground distribution center in Buena Charter Vista Township. The new 213,500 sf facility will be near I-75 and M-81 (Washington Avenue) and is expected to be completed for move in by early Summer 2016.

The FedEx center is expected to employ 117 full and part time positions, with a majority of these positions (18 full-time and 68 part time) retained from the current Buena Vista location. The company expects to invest nearly $20.3 million in the new facility and equipment, including a state-of-the-art material handling system. Saginaw Future is assisting the company and Buena Vista community with an abatement on real property improvements. SFI also assisted with site location and development with the property owner and a commercial realtor, who represented FedEx.

The Saginaw Downtown Development Authority (DDA), now administered by Saginaw Future, received a $1 million grant to help develop a group of downtown properties for the Downtown Saginaw Farmers Market group and SVRC Industries. The funding will come from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Brownfield Grant program.

The Saginaw DDA requested the state grant to help cover the cost of environmental cleanup at the former Saginaw News and Firestone Tire buildings located at 203 S. Washington Ave. and 134 S. Water St. The grant will be used to determine the extent of contamination, disposal of contaminated soil, capping, and partial building demolition according to the DEQ. The Saginaw DDA has partnered with the Downtown Saginaw Farmers Market and SVRC Industries to redevelop the building, including a year-round farmers market, food hub, commercial kitchen space, ballroom and conference space and offices.
