What a Valentine gift! On February 14, 2006 the new Wirt Library opened it's doors to the citizens of Bay County. After all the delay and controversy, once the library project got under way, it went quickly. The final product is something any city, and many universities, would be proud of!
Besides an improved collection, the library has embraced the information technology and the latest hardware and high speed internet access, including wireless service that any patron can access with their own computer. According to the Library's computer specialist Barbara Rye, the library has fiber optic connection to the internet with 3 mbps service upload anddownload. Rye says they hope to increase that to 5 meg service soon.
The pictures shown here were taken by MyBayCity.com photo correspondent
Andy Rogers. He e-mailed them to the MyBayCity office using the Library's free wireless Wi-Fi service and his own laptop computer.
If you haven't visited yet, be sure to take time to drop by. You will be impressed and can be proud.
