Ok, I'll tell you right up front; I'm a Trekkie. If you don't know what that is, it means I love everything about Star Trek. The movie "Star Trek Beyond" did not disappoint.
The story is well written. The actor Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty, was a co-writer of the film. I think that's why the film did so well portraying the characters. They rang true to the original Star Trek. During the movie, Leonard Nimoy was acknowledged as having passed away this last year, as was Anton Yelchin at the end of the movie.
The plot revolves around the Enterprise being sent on a rescue mission. Very interesting how the story evolves. No spoilers so I will stop there.
The acting from the principle actors is always good. I particularly like Chris Pine as Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, and Simon Pegg as Scotty. The cinematography was good. It wasn't filmed darkly so it's easy to see. The excitement took awhile to get there but when it did, wow!
So, yes I enjoyed it. Yes you will too. Yes it's worth the money for a big screen. 3D is up to you. Don't bother staying until the end of the credits. No extra scenes.
So go. Have fun. Eat popcorn
