Don't get me wrong.
I enjoyed the just finished NFL Playoff Weekend as much as the next guy. The end of the Viking game was arguably "one for the ages" Much like the "IMMACULATE RECEPTION"
Something's Happening Here ...
What It Is, Ain't Exactly Clear...
Seriously . . . These recent 4 games were just supposed to be pre-playoff games to get us all ready for the main course . . . Hors d'oeuvres, if you will.
Brady vs Big Ben ... Matty vs Drew
You know . . . Like Nicklaus vs Palmer
Tiger vs Phil
Yankees vs Dodgers
Red Wings vs Blackhawks
LeBron vs Durant/Curry
Bird vs Magic
Michigan vs MSU
Nadal vs Federer
Ali vs Frazier
Garber - Glenn
Handy - Central

Instead, we get Brady vs Foles (I think that's right") Or is it? . . .
No, Wait! Patriots play the Jaguars... So that's Bortles (Right?)
OK . . . I got this. . . . Just give me a sec . . .
And . . . . that leaves Case Keenum (Vikings) vs Foles (Do I know his first name . . . Oh yeah, NICK.! And that's the Eagles? RIGHT?
Bill Belichick Patriots' Head Coach
Damn . . . Deep Breath!
One more time . . . Are the Eagles in the NFC or AFC? Eagles vs Patriots? No . . . That's not right. Is it? Did the Eagles, Jaguars or Vikings play in the Super Bowl last year?
Who's Case Keenum? Who's Nick Foles? Who's Blake Bortels? Who's on first?
I guess what I'm saying is there is no history here. There's no back-story.
My wife (the lovely Miss Donna) argues that men watching sports is the same as women watching soap operas.
She says that (men) watch highlight after highlight. She says that men consume statistic after statistic. We wait for the standings. We wait for the results to see if our guys are now better off than they were yesterday.
"SAME AS SOAP OPERAS," SHE SAYS.
Sports Center and all of the other "talking heads" on ESPN will spend the rest of the week trying to convince us that there is a STORY and that next weekend's round of games is truly meaningful.
They're mistaken.
And inevitably, either the Eagles or the Vikings will emerge from the NFC to face the Patriots in the Super Bowl. (That's right, the Jaguars don't matter. (SORRY BLAKE) They really don't)
Blah, blah, blah.
There's no playoff "story" this year. It's kinda like tuning in to "Days of Our Lives" for the first time in season twenty-two.
It's like tuning into the Stanley Cup Finals when you have not seen a hockey game all year.
Who are these teams? coaches? quarterbacks?. And will someone tell me why I'm supposed to be watching?
BOTTOM LINE -- Does it really matter? No . . . It doesn't matter at all.
Let's just give the damn Super Bowl trophy to Bill Belichick and Tom Brady get and on with the NFL Draft. I hear there's a bunch of new QB's coming out of college for next year.
Scary Thought -- I think my wife is right.
And, you know what? I definitely have to stop listening to her.
