Club Announcements
Program Policy Committee to meet next week, Sept 26, 2006, to discuss policies concerning programs dealing with fund raising.
Every Member bring a Guest REMINDER... Gena Gates proposed to the club that every member make an effort to bring a guest at least once a year. This will spread the Rotary story and will likely result in some new members.
Group Study Exchange - Outbound. Bay City's Connie Schweitzer has been selected as team leader to West Africa. Applications are being taken for non-Rotarians between the ages of 25 and 40 who would like to be join the team.
International Night is October 12. Buy your tickets soon. If you can't attend, give your tickets to a friend or prospective Rotary member. Auction items are needed. Click here to download donation form PDF.
Please turn in your tickets by October 1 so the Doubletree can be given a head count for the dinner. If you are a patron or sponsor and do not plan to use all of your tickets, please consider donating the extras to the club. We will invite guests in your name.
Dictionary Project: Makeups will be awarded to all who delivered Dictionaries. Be sure Chuck Cusick has your name.
Congratulations Carl Lockwood 84 years young!
Chuck Brooks, chairman of the Club's Strategic Plan committee, presented the draft of the Club's new plan. Where in previous years the plan has run for five years, this one is aimed at a three year period.
The plan was outlined as a SMART concept defined as:
Specific
Measurable
Action Oriented
Results Defined
Time Based
Environment
The plan started by reaffirming the Rotary International mission, Rotary's four avenues of service, and the Rotary Four Way Test. The plan build on these items by restating the Bay City Rotary mission statement:
The Mission of the Rotary Club of Bay City is to foster service above self, to encourage fellowship among its members, and to support the development of programs that lead to improved quality of life in our community and throughout the world.
The outline of the new strategic plan is:
By June 30, 2009, The Rotary Club Of Bay City
Will Complete The Following Goals:
GOAL 1 - CLUB SERVICE :
The Rotary Club of Bay City will focus on strengthening the fellowship and ensuring the effective functioning of the club.
GOAL 2 - VOCATIONAL SERVICE:
The Rotary Club of Bay City will encourage club members to serve others through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards.
GOAL 3. - COMMUNITY SERVICE:
The Rotary Club of Bay City will undertake projects and activities to improve life in our community.
GOAL 4 - INTERNATIONAL SERVICE:
The Rotary Club of Bay City will take action to expand Rotary's humanitarian reach around the globe and to promote world understanding and peace.
Following the presentation a motion was made and passed by the club to forward the plan as presented to the club's board for adoption.
