The work of five artists will be featured during the concert.

  • Ann Ronell's first song was Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf? and one of her most lasting was the jazz standard Willow Weep for Me.

  • Like Ronell, Kay Swift was a friend of George Gershwin. Her most famous songs include Can This Be Love? and Can't We Be Friends?

  • Dorothy Fields was one of Tin Pan Alley's most prolific lyricists, penning over 500 songs including I'm In the Mood For Love and On the Sunny Side of the Street, and several complete shows including Sweet Charity.

  • Betty Comden and her partner Adolph Green collaborated on a variety of shows including On the Town with Leonard Bernstein.

  • Two guest artists will join The Bijou for the show:

The orchestra is supported in part by grants from the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs, the Kantzler Foundation, the Russell H. & Maxine E. Smith Foundation, and the Bay Area Community Foundation. Major corporate contributors include the SC Johnson Corporation, Dow Corning, Bay Regional Medical Center, OmniSource and Thelen Auto Group.
