As the Cougars and Hatchets began the game, they quickly set out to prove that the two teams were evenly matched in this defensive contest.
The first half for the Cougars was a little shaky but they maintained a constant lead. Their sluggish offense failed to dazzle the Cougar fans, but the Cougar defense was another thing entirely. The Cougars, while in defense mode, more than made up for the lack of fire in the offense, and the crowd loudly approved.

The Cougars were a different team in the second half to say the least. As all the fans can attest, the game was won in the third quarter. The Cougar offense surged ahead to establish an amazing 36-27 lead.

It was rough and tumble on the hardwood in the fourth, as Bad Axe desperately tried to catch up. Both teams and refs heard from the crowd as whistles blew repeatedly, and plenty of elbows were thrown. The Cougar lead was never in jeopardy though and the girls held their own against a physical Bad Axe team. Coach Gorlewski said after the game that
"We did what we had to do to get the win".
Led by Senior Megan Gerulski (12pts) and Junior Jeannie Heintskill (11pts) the Cougars managed to shut down the Hatchets a claim home win. Look for the Cougar Ladies to be home again on Feb 7th and the 12th.
