Brett Eichhorn - Garber Dukes
Hank Graff Player of the Month for January 2008
Brett Eichhorn of Garber has been selected as the MyBayCity/Hank Graff Player of The Month for January.
The 5'10" third year Varsity one sport specialist put up some impressive numbers in eight games in January;
114 points, 14.3/game; 35 rebounds 4.4/game; 17 steals 2.1/game; 19 assists 2.4/game.
"Brett was playing basketball as soon as he could walk," said stepmother, Melissa Eichhorn.
Brett solidified that statement when MyBayCity asked him what his first recollection of organized basketball was, "I think I was six or seven playing in the Buena Vista AAU League run by Greg Coburn."
This kid loves basketball so much he was on a traveling team before most kids even knew the difference between a basketball or volleyball.
His excitement and enthusiasm has not diminished after ten plus years of organized hoops and he still works hard on his game.
Coach Perry Middleton agreed as he stated, "Brett is one of the hardest working players I have ever coached. He has been a team leader since his sophomore year."
When asked who his greatest influence has been in basketball Brett responded, "My uncle Tim (Eichhorn) and my dad," (Chris Eichhorn).
Brett said he would enjoy playing basketball after high school and is looking forward to continuing his basketball career.
His ability to handle the ball in traffic has been a great asset to his Dukes this season. He has a killer cross-over and can find an open man anywhere on the court and usually with a no-looker.
MyBayCity.com and Hank Graff are proud to honor Brett Eichhorn as our January Player of the Month and we wish him and his Garber Dukes luck as the enter the Districts.
