Essexville-Hampton 5th Graders to Perform at State Theater School House Rock JR. is Coming to Bay City on April 18, 2008 March 27, 2008 By Mike Bacigalupo - State Theatre Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. is coming to the Bay City State Theater on Friday, April 18, 2008 at 7:00 PM Performed by the Essexville-Hampton Public Schools' 5th Graders. The original Schoolhouse Rock Live! Broadway show opened in 1993 and ran for two years in Chicago before moving to New York City where it opened in 1995. Tom Mizer, wakes up on his first day of work as a third grade teacher. As his alarm goes off, Tom enters and begins to rehearse his teaching technique. Soon, Tom's thoughts begin to take life in the form of young alter egos of himself all around him.

Schoolhouse Rock Live! Jr. is based on the ABC-TV educational animated series which aired from the 1970s -1980's and thrilled audiences of all ages. ~ Advertisement ~

In an attempt to calm himself, Tom turns on the T.V. What's on this morning? Why, it's Schoolhouse Rock! As Tom gets drawn into the show the first song begins. Tom thinks he may be losing his marbles and attempts to turn off the T.V. His various alter egos convince him that he is O.K. Each one of them is a part of Tom's mind. They're every person, place and thing he has ever seen. Tom is still quite unconvinced that he has not lost his mind. Undaunted, the ensemble sings, 'A Noun is a Person, Place, or Thing'. As the rest of the show progresses Tom is encouraged by the young alter egos and chorus until the company feels that they have done their duty and that Tom is ready to teach.
