One of the main contributors to our everyday stress is our workplace. 70% of workers surveyed by a national survey stated that their job is very stressful. Stress is the #1 cause of disability. It costs employers billions of dollars a year on lost productivity and healthcare costs. Since workplace is stressful, it seems commonsense to provide some means of stress relief at the workplace. More and more employers are recognizing that a regular massage can reduce the physical and mental effects of stress, thus reducing burnout and stress related diseases.

"More and more companies offer massage therapy not only as a perk, but also to increase their employees' productivity and morale," said E. Houston LeBrun, president-elect of the American Massage Therapy Association (WMTA). "You get immediate results - the employees experience stress reduction and greater satisfaction with their jobs."

Indeed, studies have shown that massage improves bottom line of employers. A study by the Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami found that after five weeks, a group of 26 employees who had twice-weekly, 15-minute massages in the office fared better than a control group of 24 employees who were just told to close their eyes and relax. The massaged group experienced reduced stress and improved performance, while the control group did not. Using electroencephalograms (EEG), researchers measured alpha and beta waves in both groups, and found massage recipients to be more alert. Stress hormones in the saliva of the massaged group were lower than problems in half the time as normal and with half the errors they had before they were massaged. The math skills of the control group did not improve. The massage recipients also said they were less fatigued and more clear-headed.

Every year, more companies are heeding the call. There are no statistics on the number of companies that offer massage therapy onsite, but those that have offered it include law firms, hospitals, manufacturers and major corporations, such as Boeing, Apple Computer, PepsiCo, Sony Music and United Airlines.

Most companies contract with massage therapists who schedule appointments with employees during breaks. The recipient is seated in a specially designed chair which allows the therapist to work on the back, neck, shoulders and arms addressing the common problem areas of today's workers.

There is no oil used and the worker is fully clothed, the massage session usually lasts 10-15 minutes, the time for a coffee break.

Benefits of therapeutic massage:

  • Decreases repetitive stress symptoms - Problems like carpal tunnel syndrome and tendinitis are examples of injuries associated with repetitive actions. This type of work leads to chronic tightness and physical injury. We help to reduce this chronic muscle tightness and help to educate clients on correcting posture, stretches and self help.

  • Helps balance the effects of stress in our lives thus reducing tension headaches, reducing anxiety level and restores a calm mind and feeling of well-being.

  • Therapeutic massage helps balance the effects of stress in our lives, and avoid stress related disease and dysfunction by:
  • Triggering the relaxation response,
  • Reducing muscle soreness,
  • Poor posture and chronic tension lead to soreness and pain.
  • By reducing the tension through our sessions and educating our clients on posture we can help eliminate pain of this nature.
  • Reducing anxiety levels. Sometimes our hectic lives take an emotional toll on our bodies which leads to physical problems. Our sessions give an effective way for high stress people to take time out.
  • Normalizing blocked energy flow
  • Improving immune system functioning Massage can help boost the immune system.
  • Reducing Stress The overall session is designed to reduce physical as well as mental stress: restoring a calm mind and feelings of well-being
  • Increased Morale Our program is loved by our clients. Employees see our program as an effective benefit that shows them that your company cares about their mental and physical health.

The health related aspects of massage lead to less employee down time on and off the job and therefore less sick days and workers compensation claims. Chair massage makes a great morale booster for hardworking employees and shows that your company cares. Many of the benefits help to increase concentration and mental alertness leading to increased productivity. Your employees will be happier and more efficient; while making fewer mistakes on and off the job.

    What is Chair Massage?

Chair or seated massage is a type of massage in which the client sits in a specially designed chair (or any chair for that matter) while the session is being performed.

This chair allows us to provide an effective and efficient session because of the following:
  • It positions you in a way that allows the release of tension.
  • It allows the therapist to access areas of common tension.
  • The chair is portable enough to bring almost anywhere.
  • It adjusts to fit all sizes of clients.

The sessions are often much different from a typical table massage that many people are more familiar with. Here are some examples of the differences.

  • Sessions are performed fully clothed
  • No oil or lotion is used
  • Your appearance is not disturbed
  • Sessions last from 10 to 30 minutes

Although chair massage seems simpler and less involved than a typical table session, the benefits you receive are the same - if not better.

Not all therapists can deliver what we offer! Why? Because we have developed a system that is specialized for performing chair massage on-site in the workplace or at special events.

We have perfected a system for performing chair massage that encompasses many aspects that other systems forget. We call this system Workplace Chair Massage. Workplace Chair Massage allows each session to be individualized to maximize the time we have with clients.

We, the developers of Workplace Chair Massage, personally teach our system to other therapist throughout the United States, your company and employees deserve to have the quality that can only come through direct hands-on training.

  • We specialize in performing on-site chair massage exclusively. Many other therapists utilize the service as a way to draw clients to more costly table sessions at a private office. The sessions may only be "teaser" sessions without any specific goal in helping problems. Your site may be their only chair massage account.

  • Our sessions are individualized and goal oriented Each time a client gets on one of our chairs; you can be assured that the session they get is intended to help improve the specific problems of that client. Some therapists are taught one session to perform on every person. Although this session may feel good, it may not be specifically helping to improve the individual or the company as a whole.

  • We have the experience of working with both large and small companies from many industries. No two organizations are alike, and dealing with a company of 15 is much different than dealing with a company of 1500. We work with companies of all sizes to improve the workforce, morale, and ultimately the bottom line.

  • We have few rules and no penalties for missed appointments. We know that your employees are there to work first, and that wee are guests, so we don't have penalties if you get stuck in a meeting and can't make your session.

  • Our therapists are licensed, individually insured, and are hand picked by us to ensure their quality and professionalism meets our strict standards.

  • We present a professional image at all times. Our image is important to us and we know your image to your clients is important to you. We make sure each therapist present an image that makes you look good to your employees, customers and associates

  • Our pricing is competitive.
  • We offer value added services. Our service packages range from basic to extraordinary and allow you to add to your existing wellness programs.
