The sound of a jackhammer across the street from MyBayCity.com's headquarters got everyone's attention. Fences had gone up around the site of the new central library the week before. Perhaps the long awaited demolition of the old buildings was beginning.

In fact, demolition has started. Limited work has been going on for a few weeks on the interiors of the old jail, "Fish's Wallpaper",and the adjacent structures. MyBayCity.com was told by Mike Gray, Chair of the Bay County Library Board and Bay County Administrative Services Director, that after removal of some contaminated soil behind the old jail, and some asbestos from the structures, Dore Demolition will complete the demolition of the existing structures.
Anticipating an active summer, the MyBayCity.com staff is calling dibs on the park bench out front. We'll enjoy the view, take a few pictures, and keep youposted on the progress!
