The Antique Toy & Firehouse Museum is pleased to announce they have received a generous contribution to accent their ongoing collection of antique toys.

The "Queen of Cartoons," Betty Boop has arrived and is on display at the Museum. A local Midland family approached Jim Dobson, Founder of the Antique Toy & Firehouse Museum, stating their late family member, Dirk B. Waltz requested his Betty Boop Collection be donated to the museum.

Appreciatively, Mr. Dobson accepted the donation and now has the collection displayed for all to see. Over 65 dolls and memorabilia items make up this Classic Beauty's footprint in American history. Betty Boop is known for her sassy and sexy character of the 1930s in her cartoons such as, "Dizzy Dishes" and also through her appearance in the 1988 film "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"

Although she no longer graces us with her presence in films, she certainly has been known for her impact on all ages young and old with her porcelain replicas, music boxes, pinup posters, and figurines.

"The Museum is very fortunate to have Betty added to our classic toys," says Dobson. "It isn't every day that a collection such as this can be displayed for all to see," Dobson continued. "It was such a great honor to have Mr. Waltz's family present the Betty Boop Collection to me, as I knew she would have a home here. Our Michigan residents and tourists can now enjoy what Mr. Waltz and his family have for so many years," Dobson said. The Antique Toy & Firehouse Museum is located on Patterson Road in Bay City, MI and is home to more than 12,000 antique toys and 60 motorized fire trucks. The Museum's collection includes some of the greats such as: Tonka, NASCAR, Coca-Cola, First Gear, Buddy-L, and more. Even the fire truck collection provides history found nowhere else, including both hand and horse-drawn units dating back to 1854 to motorized units up to 1985.

The Museum's most well known collectible is the one and only New York City FD Super Pumper. It is the world's largest land-base fire truck and is housed right here in Bay City Michigan.

The Betty Boop collection and the Museum's extensive collection is open to the public Saturday and Sunday from Noon-3:00p and by appointment.
