With Halloween less than two weeks away it should come as no surprise that 'Horror' is the main genre in both films this weekend.
First up is Paranormal Activity 4. Now, admittedly, I am no fan of the genre here, so as a direct result I haven't seen any of the Paranormal Activity films to date. Add my disdain for the "found footage" style of film used to create the movie and you have as potent a recipe for loathing as you're going to get. However, if jumping out of your seat to gimmicky films is your thing I hear that PA4 is actually quite entertaining. And by entertaining I mean scary as hell. So go ahead, sign up for sleepless nights and see Paranormal Activity 4 this weekend.
The other horror film hitting theaters this weekend is called Alex Cross. While not your traditional scary movie, featuring Tyler Perry brings any movie out of it's intended genre and in to the realm of horror. I mean, sure you could call it an action, crime, or mystery film (IMDB certainly does) but I like to call things like I see it. Or don't see it, because I certainly won't be. Please stop seeing Tyler Perry movies, Internet. Please.
Plus there's this. This scares the hell out of me. I think it's supposed to be Matthew Fox or something
In case you're not sure which movie I'm recommending here, it's probably because I'm not really recommending either. Paranormal Activity 4 is something worth considering if you're really in to the horror genre, but if not, you might want to skip the theater trip this weekend (AND RENT THE AVENGERS).
