SAGINAW, Mich. -- Saginaw will celebrate the growing number of women enjoying the outdoors with Ladies Day Out, April 6, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This bi-annual event encourages ladies to try out the latest outdoor apparel, camping gear, personal firearms and other supplies. The first 100 women to register at the store or by calling (989) 321-5700 will receive a free gift.

With more than 5 million women participating in shooting sports, an increase of 46.5 percent since 2001, this growing demographic will enjoy activities including:

9am: Camping in Luxury f/ Outdoor Adventures

9:30am: Bows are for Girls: Archery Tips and Techniques

10am: Hiking for the Whole Family f/ North Country Trail Association

10:30am: Spring Fashion Show f/ Girl Scouts of America11am: Fly Tying and Casting f/ Fly Girls of Michigan

11:30am: Taste of Cabela's: Cooking w/ Dixie Dave12pm: Navigating Michigan: Geocaching f/ Michigan Geocaching Organization

12:30pm: Personal Protection: Options for Ladies

Ladies in attendance will have an opportunity to meet local expert Laura Stockwell and Gail Phillips Crachiola from Flygirls of Michigan. The ladies bring to the event several years of fly fishing expertise and will present a seminar entitled, "Fly Tying for Beginner and Expert Fisherwomen." Classes will be taught by local experts and are free of charge.

Product specialists and industry experts will be on hand to answer questions and provide recommendations while offering suggestions to help ladies make the most of their next outdoor adventure.

"Ladies Day Out is a celebration of women in the outdoors," said Bruce Biedenharn, general manager. "Cabela's is proud to offer women not only the gear, but also the expert knowledge to pursue their outdoor passions."

According to the National Shooting Sports Foundation Firearms Retailer Survey Report, 2011 Edition, 61 percent of retailers surveyed saw an increase in female customers in 2010 over 2009.
