It was a bittersweet evening at Garber High School on May 6, 2013 as Alumni performed the Garber fight song for the late band teacher Jay Gaffney.
Mr. Gaffney was a graduate of Central Michigan University and began instructing music for Essexville Garber where he dedicated 28 years of his life. He was a huge influence in initiating band programs for the high school, middle school and grade school levels.
Mr. Gaffney also led his music program to state competitions, marching half time performances, and a public playing at Disney World. His rough & determined exterior will be remembered by most but his kind heart, vast knowledge of music, and sense of humor will be missed by all.
