Patriotism was abound Sunday, June 16, 2013 in Veteran's Park, Bay City, MI, when friends, family and proud Americans greeted the parade of boats coming in to the park area after a day of fishing.
Returning veterans were surround by patriotic music, well-wishers waving flags and volunteers ready to help weigh and scale the day's catch.
Over 230 veterans of ALL of the U.S. Armed Forces were encouraged to participate in the fishing event, especially those who served in overseas conflicts, have service-connected disabilities, Purple Hearts, or were POWs.
Bay City Elks Lodge #88 was just one of the sponsors. Roughly 105 volunteer boat captains participated in the event which encourages the community to recognize our veteran's and treat them to a great day on the Saginaw Bay.
