The
Bay City Elk's Lodge #88 along with the
Saginaw Spirit Hockey Club, teamed up on Saturday, November 1st, for a day of appreciation for all who serve, or have served our country in the military.
Guests were able to listen to speakers, including guest speaker,
Colonel Danny R. McKnight (Retired), who also dropped the first puck at the game. The movie
'Black Hawk Down' was based on his experience while in command.
There was also musical entertainment, inflatables for the kids and several service organizations were in attendance for those who came out to the
'Military Families United' event. They also had an opportunity to attend the game free of charge thanks to several sponsors of the event.
Brothers in Song led the National Anthem and TV5's Katie O'Mara emcee'd a moving tribute for families of fallen soldiers. The
Patriot Guard served as flag bearers on the ice for this ceremony.
