The USTA Northeastern Michigan District and the Midwest Youth Tennis & Education Foundation (MYTEF) have selected the Bay Community Tennis Association for the 2015 MY Gift to Kids Tennis fundraising campaign taking place Oct. 1-31.

The foundation's campaign is designed to help raise support for local junior tennis programs throughout the USTA/Midwest Section.

The Bay Community Tennis Association (BCTA), along with 9 other junior tennis programs from the USTA/Midwest Section, were selected based on their support and use of tennis to positively influence youth in their respective communities.

The MY Gift to Kids Tennis annual fundraiser calls on tennis and community supporters alike to make monetary donations toward their local tennis program. Junior programs often rely on volunteers and donations to help maintain and grow the services they provide to youth in their communities.

To make a donation and to learn more about the Bay Community Tennis Association's efforts in helping construct the new BCTA Fitness Facility visit the Midwest Youth Tennis and Education Foundation online at www.midwesttennisfoundation.com/mygift.

More details about each of the 10 programs are online. Donations will be taken Oct. 1-31 and 100% of all donations go directly to the program. Donations could also help the program receive additional money from the Midwest Youth Tennis and Education Foundation.

"The Bay Community Tennis Association (BCTA) was formed to meet an unfulfilled need for tennis courts in Bay City, Michigan," said BCTA President Joe Ricard.

The association is leading the effort to construct the BCTA Fitness Facility, an eight-court public site that will include designated courts for players age 10 and under as well as wheelchair tennis players.

Replacing a patchwork of substandard sites, the new facility will serve hundreds of area youth through scholastic organizations and tennis programming.

Local community leaders have been working together for several years to secure a location, to establish strategic partnerships, and apply for grants to help generate financial support for the project.

A local school district is providing the land and the BCTA is now working to raise funds. Money donated through the MY Gift initiative will go directly to the BCTA Fitness Facility project.
