Well I just saw "The Big Short". Interesting and depressing all at the same time. It was depressing because of all that the banking community got away with.
Four groups of men from the world of high finance predict the credit and housing bubble collapse. The movie details the time from about 2005-2008. They see a chance for a big return on their money. They decide to take on the big banks for the banks greed and lack of foresight.
The first third of the movie felt almost like I was watching a foreign language film with no English subtitles. However, different actors would take a pause in the action, look at the camera and explain the financial aspects. Occasionally there would be a term onscreen with a definition. After awhile I became accustomed to it. I still may have to see the movie again to fully understand it.
The acting, Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling was very good. The director, Adam McKay, did a good job, especially since this was his first drama.
