A Piece of Ewe Relocates, Expands

After 12 years in downtown Bay City, A Piece of Ewe is pleased to announce the grand opening of their expanded store located at 506 Columbus Avenue, across the street from the Flea Market. The yarn shop has been popular shopping destination with knitters from near and far, with customers frequently making a stop on their way up north during the summer or while spending time visiting Bay City.
"We have loved being a part of downtown Bay City and we've only moved a few blocks away, adjacent to both downtown Bay City and the Uptown development," says Susan Glenwallis, owner of A Piece of Ewe. "With the new store, we have plenty of parking and have doubled our shop size which gives us space for more yarns and for classrooms? A Piece of Ewe can offer multiple classes at the same time. We have also included lounging spaces so you can sit and explore a pattern book or knit a bit while you catch up with friends."
Increased classroom space is important as the yarn shop keeps a busy schedule of classes going year-round. New class schedules are released quarterly and announced on the shop's website (www.apieceofewe.com) and Facebook page. With knitting's popularity on the rise, being able to offer a variety of classes for people different skill levels. In addition, the shop offers a weekly "Grab Bag" class every Wednesday from 6:30-8:30, where knitters come to catch up, get assistance with a project or get ideas for new projects.
"If you take our Beginner Knitting classes, by the end of it you should be able to move on to socks, mittens or easy sweaters. You are not stuck with making scarves or washcloths for the rest of your knitting life" says Glenwallis. "Hats are all the rage this winter. We are doing two different ones this quarter. Sweaters are also popular and we have the depth of yarn so you can choose from dozens of yarns to make yours special."
According to Glenwallis, what sets A Piece of Ewe apart from other yarn shops is their level of commitment to helping fellow knitters.
"Everyone at A Piece of Ewe knits so if you are stymied by a project, bring it in and we should be able to help," Glenwallis says. "We truly want you to succeed with your projects."
A Piece of Ewe has one of the largest selections of yarns in the Great Lakes Bay Region, carrying brands including , Kauni, Mountain Colors, MadelineTosh, Ella Rae, Berroco, Debbie Bliss and Juniper Moon. In addition, the increased space allows them to offer more brands and types of yarn, including an impressive selection of sock yarns.
