It is the most popular exhibit each year at Studio 23/The Arts Center, 901 N. Water St. Called Teenworks and Kids Kreations, the more than 100 pieces of artwork from students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade draws visitors from all over the county. "Students have such a fresh perspective when it comes to the representation of their ideas," said Garrett Wedlock, curator of arts and exhibits. "They really have yet to take on a specific style or be extremely influenced by the large art world. When people look at their artwork, it is raw and exciting, but also more readily understandable." Work for the exhibit is chosen by teachers and represent all media. "The range this year is vast," said Wedlock. "There are paintings, Chihuly style installations, ceramic sculpture, drawings, mixed media and many other medias. "The work is fun, exciting, intriguing, colorful," he added. "What I feel most when looking at the artwork is the passion and hard work put into each and every piece. I think what the audience connects with the most in student work is the fun that the student had putting into it." Teenworks and Kids Kreations will be on display from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays, and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays, Feb. 9 through March 4. An opening reception takes place from 4-7 p.m. Feb. 12.
