Steven M. Gerhardt, Lead Technologist for the Nuclear Medicine Department at Bay Regional Medical Center, recently earned an advanced certification in Nuclear Cardiology.

Only 439 technologists across the country have successfully passed thisexamination. Gerhardt is the only Nuclear Medicine Technologist in the area to earn this designation. The certification is valid for seven years.

Mr. Gerhardt has worked in Bay Regional Medical Center’s Nuclear Medicine Department since 1991 and has been the Lead Technologist since 1995. Recent external audits of the hospital’s nuclear cardiology area commendation from the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.


Gerhardt also serves as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor for Ferris State University (FSU). Bay Regional Medical Center is one of several clinical sites for FSU’s Nuclear Medicine Technology Program.

Mini-Gastric Bypass Support Group Schedule

Beginning in February, the Mini-Gastric Bypass Support Group will meet on the fourth Thursday of each month. The next meeting will take place on Thursday, Feb. 23, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Center, 820 S. Lincoln.

This support group is designed for people who have had mini-gastric bypass surgery or for those who are interested in the process. Family members and friends may also attend. There is no charge to attend the support group.

In addition, informational sessions are held every Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. for anyone interested in the Mini-Gastric Bypass. These sessions are held in the office of Paul M. Doroghazi, MD, 200 South Wenona, Suite 195, Bay City.

The informational sessions allow patients the opportunity to meet Dr. Doroghazi and obtain information on the surgery, preop, postop, and follow-up of the Mini-Gastric Bypass surgery.
