Production of "Meet Me in St.Louis"

The Bay City Players is a family of people all drawn to the challenge and excitement of bringing live theater to the Bay City community.
 
The many talented volunteer actors, directors, and behind the scene people come together to bring to the stage five productions each season including everything from a musical to a farce.

"Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis, meet me at the fair..." That song has been a hit since the St. Louis World's Fair in 1904.

Bay City Players present, "Meet Me in St. Louis",
the sparkling stage version, (Directed by, Christi Sheeks)of the great Judy Garland film.

Based on the beloved MGM film musical, this is the story of the happy Smith family, as they anticipate the wonders of the 1904 Worlds Fair.

This Musical includes seven of the best-loved songs from the movie (including The Trolley Song and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas), as well as ten other wonderful numbers written especially for the stage production.

Halloween, Christmas, the World's fair, an all-American family and some of the best songs ever combined to create a fabulous evening of theater that will leave you and your family feeling really good!

This show will be the grand finale of the Bay City Players 88th season.

(Right) Ivor Alcorn who runs the sound, says "There is alot involved in these productions, people do not realize the amount of time and work that volunteer actors, directors, and behind the scene people put into one production, everyone contributes their gift, but everyone's doing it because they love what they are doing. You can see it, in the expressions on their faces."

Alcorn adds, "This is my second production, but I already feel at home here, its like family here. Emotions are built up to opening night, and when we have the last show, there is an amount of sadness in it being over. "

Musical Show Dates for "Meet Me in St.Louis" are May 5-7, 12-14 and 19-21, 2006.Friday and Saturday performances are at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday performances are at 3:00 p.m.

The box office will open to the public on Monday, May 1, 2006.
Box office hours are Monday through Saturdayfrom 12 - 2 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m., and Sunday from 2 - 3:30 p.m. The box office may be reached at 989-893-5555 during those hours.

Next month is the Youtheater (June 15-17) and Stages of Discovery (August 4-6) programs.

YOUTHEATRE is a program in which students are able to learn about theatre productions by presenting one act plays. Third through ninth graders act in productions while seasoned high school students function as directors. Adult staff provides needed support.

STAGES OF DISCOVERY, this is a group of youth actors, adult directors and committed parents who combine their talents to produce full scale musical and dramatic plays. Stages has presented Christmas shows, competition plays, and summer repertory theatre. The Stages of Discovery Summer 2006 project will take place July 20-22, 2006 during the Tall Ships Celebration in Bay City.

Bay City Players is a volunteer-based community theatre dedicated to providing high quality theatrical experiences for the entertainment, education, and enrichment of the community.
