185 exhibitors and about 2,800 visitors descended on the SVSU Ryder center last week for the 10th annual Mid-Michigan Regional Business Expo. The annual event, sponsored by the Bay, Saginaw, and Midland Chambers of Commerce, showcases area businesses, organizations and services.

According to Event Coordinator Diane Card, "Our goal in presenting this show is to provide our members a forum for businesses of all sizes to meet and find out about each other, and to foster business to business networking and growth within our region."

MMRBE is unique in that it's a business to business event. Exhibitors are given tickets which they can distribute to friends and clients, but the show is not promoted to the general public. It is a networking opportunity and a place to show the a company is still a player in the local economy.

Roger Thornton from Hammer Restoration said "I greatly appreciate the casual business climate. The business to business contacts and relationship building was excellent. Having this not be a public event like all the other show makes it special. Chamber members talking and working with chamber members from all three cities; what a perfect opportunity to build our community."

Businesses have a number of ways to showcase their products and services. The traditional booth is the most obvious method, but there are also opportunities to present seminars in private rooms and to participate in the "Minute Pitch" area for one-on-one interviews.

Besides the entertainment of meeting friends, visiting, and comparing notes, there was pleanty of free samples of food, massages, health screenings, and lots of free "gimme's" in the booths. Entertainment included a blackjack table sponsored by WIOG, WHEELZ, Z-93 and WHNN. Country Grains, among others, served up food all day. Youcould try your luck shooting pool with a pro to offer tips and set up some great trick shots. For those so inclined, the Michigan Community Blood bank had their mobil facility on hand to take blood donations.

Card went on to say "We appreciate the work that so many of our exhibitors put into their booths to provide an interesting and informative show." The show organizers select prize winning booths each year. This years winners were:
  • Best of Show:
    MidMichigan Medical Center - Midland
