Sinclairs Rock On In To Wednesdays in the Park

The Sinclairs group has over 100 songs in their repertoire, keeping the show fresh
The Bay Arts Council Wednesdays in the Park series continues for the second week with the Sinclairs and Paisley Fogg.
The Sinclairs bring together bassist Chris Jarema, Ed Kerns on drums, Dennis Beson lead vocal, Rod Loomis lead guitar; and Jeff Ott, keyboard.
The Bay Area Review says the group "is prolific - often covering 45 to 50 songs in the course of an evening that consist of familiar yet under-performed gems - 3-minute wonders - from the sixties, seventies, and eighties. And the key to their success is the fun they have performing together, which undoubtedly creates a synergistic reaction in their audience."
"Because we spend a lot of time picking songs and throwing stuff out, most of the material we do is well received," notes Rod.
"We've been getting into a bit more of the '60s soul stuff and '70s blues, but we dabble all the way back to the very early '60s with Del Shannon and Drifter's tunes. People often don't expect to hear that."
The group has over 100 songs in their repertoire, keeping the show fresh. "I think we probably play more music in a single night than any band in the area," laughs Dennis. "Sometimes I'll get six songs into a set and think, 'Wow, we've only played for 15 minutes.' But it's fun to think where we're going to go next. With Jeff in the band now he fills in a lot of the material, so now Rod can be more of a showman with the guitar."
The Sinclairs have won praise from local entertainment venue managers.
"The party atmosphere that The Sinclairs establish make their band second to none in Mid-Michigan," says Craig Goslin of the Saginaw Spirit hockey club. "Their unique ability to have all demographics dancing, tapping their feet and tuned in to their show is quite remarkable. We are looking forward to having The Sinclairs back to The Dow Event Center for another Saginaw Spirit game soon."
Says Wendy Dore, of Adoreable Entertainment: "The Sinclairs were sensational! Their performance opening for the Gary Puckett concert at the Labadie Pig Gig had the crowd energized. Their interactive style was fun and just what we were looking for at our event. We will be booking the Sinclairs again in the future!"
Other performances on the Bay Arts Council Wednesdays in the Park schedule this season include:
June 21: Evening of Harmony, barbershop and A' Capella harmony with the Harbor Sounds Chorus, Sweet Adelines Tri-City Chorus and Championship Guest Quartets "Dreamcatchers" and "Party of 4."
June 28: New Odyssey: three musicians, 30 instruments, audience involvement, sheer zaniness.
July 5: Trilogy, everything from the 50s to the present if you like Motown, Bob Seger and in between.
July 12: Backbeat . . . A Tribute: one of the best Beatles Tribute bands, from the early days of the British invasion through Sgt. Pepper.
July 19: Saline Fiddlers: stage show including music, song and dance from traditional American folk fiddle, bluegrass, jazz, western swing and Celtic music.
SPECIAL: REO Speedwagon highlights the Tall Ship Celebration with a performance July 22 in Vets Park.
July 26: Ambassadors: 17 piece orchestra featuring Big Band music at its best, like Duke Ellington and Glenn Miller. (Funded in part by the Michigan Council for the Arts and Michigan Humanities Council.)
Aug. 2: Spyder Turner: "An Apollo Theatre Living Legend," best of the Motown tradition.
Aug. 9: Rumours: The Fleetwood Mac experience that does not and cannot quit.
Aug. 16: Face 2 Face: Combination tribute to piano man Billy Joel and Mr. Fantastic Elton John.
