Wondering where the weekend aroma of grilled barbecue ribs in the neighborhood of South Wenona is coming from?

Meats & Mooore Meat Market is grilling out every weekend Friday through Sunday during the summer. "We usually start grilling out a week or two before memorial weekend," says Craig Owczarzak, co-owner of Meats & Mooore on 1411 S. Wenona Street on the West Side of Bay City.

Craig co-owns the business with his brother, Jeff Owczarzak. The store has been in the family since 1976.

"On Friday we have the Burger Bar, which is all you can eat burger for $5.00," said Craig. "You can sit out here and relax. We have picnic tables set up for everyone's convenience."

"Meats & Moore is the Home of Meaty's BBQ & Sauce," says Greg "Buzz" Buzzard, Manager. "We have our own special sauces which include our sweet barbecue, jalapeño and a Hawaiian sauce," Buzzard went on.

"We will be at the Pig Gig in Vets Park, August 3rd though the 6th," Buzzard added.

Buzzard went on to say that Meats & Mooore also does custom catering for small or large groups. "We are not your average caterer. We will customize to fit Your Needs or Your Budget," Buzzard said.

Craig Owczarzak said that Meats & Mooore will have a custom pig cooker, designed by Randal Hodder, on site later this summer. "It's actually a mobile disaster kitchen," Craig said.

Craig went on to say that the cooker will have a fully mobile propane grill, sink, and you can boil water and it has wood burning capability. "It can be used to feed 2,000 people," Craig said. "It can be hauled to a site, its ready to be deployed."

Hodder, who designed the cooker said, "It was a co-effort. Craig called me up one day in the wake of the Katrina disaster, and said we got to talk."

"The cooker is made right here in Bay City Michigan and will be available very soon," Hodder concluded. For more info call 893-5413.

  • Craig added, "Another popular item is our bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers. Many of our meat products are homemade."
