The sights and sounds of summer filled the air on Thursday afternoon as the Tall Ships Fleet - 2006 Edition - arrived in downtown Bay City.

It is the third visit to the Bay City port for the Tall Ships who in 2003, voted Bay City the number one port city in the USA.

Families and friends gathered along the shores of the Saginaw River to welcome the mid-afternoon parade of ships. Canons fired and Fire Truck boats spewed water high into the air to help create a festive afternoon event.

The Waterfall Park was packed with onlookers. The Tiki Lounge was standing room only. Every table at Hooters was packed. Digital cameras clicked and video cameras whirred as everyone tried to capture one of the great visual events of the summer.

(Left) Hooters bartender, Sarah Felton was enjoying the ships as they passed by. "We've been extremely busy all afternoon," Felton said. "The ships really bring the people into town. Just the way we like it."

A.J. claimed the prize for her team by coming up with the REO Speedwagon song title -- You can tune a piano . . . But you can't tuna fish.
