OCTOBERFEST Sunday Octoberfest 15, 2006
Public is Welcome, Tell Neighbors and Friends.

The kids funfair will be held at the parish center, right next door to St. Mary's Church which is located at 607 E. South Union Street on The West Side of Bay City.

St. Mary's of the Assumption Church in Bay City is hosting Octoberfest, Sunday October 15th from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.

The Octoberfest will include a roast pork dinner and a fun fair for the kids. There will be games, prizes, raffles, drinks, food and fun for everyone! A VCR/DVD player, a TV, a CD player and a $100.00 fuel card will be raffled off.

Proceeds to benefit Church Point Tucking. (Tuck pointing means the mortar around each brick needs to be replaced) St. Marys has been around for over 100 years and is located at 607 E. South Union Street.

The Octoberfest Roast Pork Dinner will be served at St. Patrick's Hall which is located in the lower level of St. Marys Church

The dinner is being prepared by Jackie from Muscle Beach who is known for her delicious home cooking. For only $8.00 for adults and $4.00 for children the dinner includes tender, juicy pork loin, potato, squash, cole slaw, applesauce and pie for dessert.

For kids who would prefer to eat and run to the fun fair - hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, nachos and chips will be available for purchase.

St. Mary's Parish Center will be full of fun and games - including a ring toss, plincko, duck pond or grab a fishing pole and catch a prize for the younger kids and many other games will be available for kids of all ages. Tickets to play the games are 4 for $1.00.

Jackie DeLorge, chairperson for the Octoberfest event, said, "We have some very distinguished judges for our Apple Pie and Salsa contests." DeLorge went on to say, "Speaking of judges, Craig Alston will be one of our judges along with attorney, Scott Schisler, newsman Jay Brandow, Mayor Mike Buda, author Dave Rogers and Bangor trustee Dick Bishop."

DeLorge added, "We are still taking applications for the contests and kids are welcome to enter too!" DeLorge said, "We have everyone from a grandmother and granddaughter entering an apple pie together and a little boy and his mom entering the salsa contest. It is not only the ladies that are entering either.... we have men who have also entered the salsa contest."

The festival is being presented through the Stewardship Committee and according to DeLorge, it is evident that St. Mary's has many good stewards as many are offering their help without even being asked which is the spirit of St. Mary's!
