2002-2003 Walleye Season Closes

Waiting on the Spring Turkey Hunt

As experienced Walleye Anglers, we know the 2002-2003 season will come to a close on Saturday, March 15, 2003.

What some of you may not know is that all of your angling licenses are available online at the Michigan DNR site

Last weekend I purchased all of my licenses, hunting and fishing, online and saved money. The DNR used to sell one license for the Unlitmate Outdoorsmen but they did away with that. Now if you purchase four ormore licenses that are marked with a discount, you recieve the indicated discount on that item.

Being the Outdoorsman that I am, I picked up my Spring Turkey, Small Game, Fishing, Bird and even my Deer Rifle season license. I saved a significantamount and I don't have to worry about not having to go out and pick up the correct license on my way to the field. The best part is that I printed out the license and the one's that I didn't need kill tags for are all in one print out. I recieved the kill tags within 2 days after I placed my order.

Now, all I have to do is get the license laminated and I don't have to carry numerous licenses with me, they are all on one license!

Enough of that! I just thought it was too cool to keep tomyself.

Now, I'm counting the days for the return of Walleye season and the Spring Turkey opener. I was one of the lucky ones who was successful in the Spring Turkey Hunt drawing. It's not the guaranteed hunt period, my hunt is from April 21 through the 27th. I'm hoping this year will be my year! I haven't been successful in the past and I'd really like to fill my tag with my first turkey. I've been practicing my calls and driving Gunner crazy.

Gunner can't wait until all of this white stuff goes away so that we can get out and start working towards this years Hunt Test season. He missed the trip to Texas for winter training but, will go to Windy Acres Kennels, Darrin Morman, for Spring Training so that we might be able to accomplish his Senior Title this year.

As you can tell, I'm impatiently waiting the arrival of Spring, and from what I hear, I'm not alone.

One last thing. Please take note that alot of seasons end this month and don't expect the DNR to excuse you for being uninformed about seasons' end.

Be smart, Be safe, Be successful!
