Sunday, June 10, 2007 was my first visit to the Dow Diamond in Midland - Home of the Great Lakes Loons, which opened on April 13, 2007. Also it was just announced on June 8, 2007, that the Dow Diamond will host the 2008 Midwest League All Star Game.

I was a little hesitant to leave my pool on such a beautiful afternoon, but I put my game face on and my boyfriend and I headed for Midland to check out some Loons Baseball.

It was a great day for a ball game. Game time was 3:05pm. The temperature was perfect, not too hot, not too cool. My first step into the stadium and a look out over the field, wow, I thought, I'm not to much into baseball, but what an impressive view!

They have everything to accommodate your needs, grills, fire pits, many concessions, box seating, lawn seatings for picnics, pavilions to accommodate small or large groups, a kids playland, entertainment from mascot Lou E. Loon and of course shopping at the Loon Loft and so much more.

Although I had my sights set on the traditional stadium style hot-dog with just mustard, I settled for a prime rib buffet-style dinner. (Smile) I spent most of the time at the private pavilion called "The Landing" with a great bunch of people from the Garber Group.

If you haven't made it out to the Dow Diamond, you definitely should and you won't be disappointed. So, despite the fact, that I'm not a big baseball fan, since back in the 70's when my brother played little league, it was absolutely a great time! If you enjoy baseball or not it's the hot-spot to be.

The attendance for the day was 5,024. The total capacity is 5,500.

oh, by the way. . . I almost forgot the most important thing . . . The Loons Won 8-5 against the Fort Wayne Wizards.

Below are some photos, but you really need to see for yourself.
