"The talent is better and better every week," said Doug Dore during the most recent competition of Michigan Idol held at The Stables on Bay City's West Side.

Dore says that the singers are getting more comfortable with the surroundings and the competition. "In the first couple of weeks, some of the singers were just a bit on the timid side," said Dore. "After five weeks," Dore smiled, "They're just belting out the songs. It's fabulous."

Dore says the format of the Wednesday night competition is coming around. "We really want to make it a show that's organized as well as entertaining," Dore said. Dore went on to explain that each contestant is introduced and a brief "bio" is read over the P.A. System.

"Judges are formally introduced each week," Dore said. "The idea is to present a Total Entertainment Package."

Winners this past week (June 13, 2007) were: (in no particular order)

  • Karen Powell
  • Ashley D. January
  • Kalei Sousa
  • Tim Draves
  • Steve Armstrong
  • Kate Gembrowski
  • Carl Neveau
  • Ed Reaume
  • Jenna Moeggenborg
  • John Cudworth
  • Jodie Griffin
  • Amy Shurlow
  • Sara Jane

The weekly competition will continue until the 4th of July. Ten winners are picked every Wednesday. Winners advance.

After the 4th of July, the best 10 will advance weekly with one performer eliminated at each competition. The "Final Four" will compete during the 2007 Pig Gig.

Top prize for the competition is an all-expense paid trip to Vegas.

A highlights of Week #6 was Geoff Burdanowicz's cover of Salt 'N Peppas "PUSH IT." Geoff gyrated, sang and danced to the delight of the big crowd. Halfway through his performance, Geoff shed his shirt as he included some various break-dance moves in his routine. (Geoff is pictured at the right.)
