The Dow Corning 5K Race is a brand new event "running" in conjunction with the Labadie Pig Gig presented by State Farm in Bay City's Veterans Memorial Park. Dow Corning will be sponsoring the 5K Run, 5K walk and a kids fun run. The race will be held on Saturday, August 4th starting at 10:30am.

The course will start at the boat launch at Veteran's Memorial Park and will continue along the Bay County's River walk to the Boys & Girls Club and Rowing Club area. Participants will then loop back around and will finish inside the Labadie Pig Gig presented by State Farm festival ground.

The race director, Ann Gasta, is anticipating a larger than normal turnout for this inaugural year. "The festival itself draws a large crowd and we are hopeful that we will have a great turnout to support this new event."

Ann Gasta has been managing races for the past 5 years - sometimes up to 7 races in a given year. She has the experience and skills to organize a quality race. "We are expecting many participants will come out and support our local charities as well as see who will win the overall winners trophy," Ann Gasta commented.

The Dow Corning 5K Race is being planned as an annual event and as a fundraiser for local charities. Registration is available at http://www.signmeupsports.com, or log onto http://www.barc-mi.com to download a copy.

For questions please contact Race Director Ann Gasta at (989) 415-5593 or Gastazoo@chartermi.net; there will also be late registration available from 8:45am - 10:15am on the day of the event at the entrance of the Labadie Pig Gig.

All participants of the Dow Corning 5K race will receive free admission to the 2007 Labadie Pig Gig presented by State Farm.

Bosco Food Service will be providing fruit for the racers and Covenant Healthcare will provide water at the finish line. "Having a healthy snack such as fruit and cold water will help the runners recover after the race," Ann Gasta added. "We appreciate what Bosco and Covenant Healthcare will be providing."
