As the clock neared 7 p.m., the crowd started arriving at St. Stan's AC Field full of doubt about the upcoming showdown against the much larger Reese Rockets. It was the first Varsity home game of the season.

All Saints Head Coach Jeff Bisel, before the nights action began, stated that the Cougars had a lot to prove in the upcoming game.

Starting off the night regarded as the "underdogs", the Cougars quickly shook off that title when Ben Latocki surprised the Rocket defense with a 27 yard pass to B. J. Weaver for a shocking early touchdown. The Cougars then tacked on the PAT to take a 7-0 lead.

After their triumphant score in the first quarter, the Cougars defense managed to keep the Rockets at bay long enough to take the 7-0 halftime lead -- much to the delight of the spirited home crowd.

Showing their support for the Cougars, the All Saints Pom Pon squad dazzled All Saints and Reese spectators alike, with their peppy half-time routine to "Dancing with My Self."

With the score standing at 7-0, the second half kickoff found All Saints supporters enthusiastic and hopeful for a miracle victory. A Reese fumble recovered by Cougar #23 Kevin Klapish in the first few minutes of the third quarter served to heighten the excitement and keep the ever hopeful crowd on the edge of their seats.

Unfortunately, the Cougar were unable to capitalize on their good fortune, and turned over the ball on downs.

In a stunning play, Rocket quarterback Josh Bierlein then threw a 66 yard pass which was caught and run the rest of the way by receiver Dan Fiting for a touchdown. Surprisingly, the attitude didn't change among the All Saint fans and an interception by Kevin Klapish, kept everyone's spirits high.

Regrettably for the Cougars, the endurance of their defense and offense (which are one and the same) was lacking by the end of the third quarter. The momentum of the game now changed in the Rockets' favor, and they scored two more touchdowns and to take home the victory by a final score of 18-7.

An Alumni of All Saints and team trainer, Matt Marvin stated after the game that "We've got a good team, we just ran out of steam."

Coach Jeff Bisel who has coached the Cougars for 23 years now, said, "We played our hearts out, and have nothing to be ashamed of". The crowd mirrored that statement as they left the grounds knowing that the Cougars gave their all.
