"I have a lot of ideas," laughed Art Dore during the first week of the Wednesday night Stables' Michigan's Got Talent competition.

"Some of them are even good ideas."

The Stables & Martini Bar, (owned by Dore), is coming off the huge success of a 13-week, Wednesday night, Mid Michigan Idol Challenge that brought out over 90 singing contestants and hundreds of fans each week (for 3 months) to the Stables during the summer.

Steve Armstrong of the 25 cent beer band eventually won the competition and won the chance to open for Mark Wills at the Pig Gig and also a trip to Las Vegas.

Dore is now hoping that The Stables can duplicate the same success with a more general talent competition. "We're looking for the most talented people in Mid Michigan," Dore said. "C'mon down . . . Show us what you got."

The follow-up competition (which began on September 5th) is called: MICHIGAN'S GOT TALENT!

"We're looking for any kinds of acts or musicians or dog tricks," said Stables' Manager John Buehl.

Singers, Bands, Dancers, Comedians, Magicians, Freaks, Impressionists are all invited to compete. Whatever your talent, you just might win an all expense paid trip to Las Vegas!

For information or to pre-register, call 989.891.0100.

"This competition promises to make the Stables the place to be on Wednesday nights in Bay City, says Buehl.

Try-Outs begin every Wednesday at 7:00PM at the Stables Martini and Cigar Bar on Midland Street on Bay City's West Side. Come and enjoy the show and help the distinguished panel of judges pick the winners each week. There will also be great food and drink specials.

This past Wednesday, Caleb Pijaszek, Paul Dorion, Karen Powell and Matt Gregory all got the "Thumbs Up" from the judges and will be back for another round on September 12th.

On-line voting, sponsored by Labadie's Dick Bork and Silver Sand Limo's Ray Stack will begin after the competition on September 12th.

Highlight of the September 5th talent competition was the return of Karen Powell to the stage as she sang a blues number - "The Eagle Flys on Friday."

Caleb Pijaszek, a 10-year-old fifth-grader from Bangor Central brought a buzz to the crowd with his rendition of "Life's What You Make It."

"I wasn't too nervous," the 10-year-old said. "I've been in a lot of musicals."

Matt Gregory's rendition of "Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody" and Paul Dorion's version of the Kenny Rogers favorite, "Know When to Hold "Em also got high marks.
