Fans gathered at Ed Harvey field September 7 to see the team in action on their turf; and, as usual, they weren't disappointed.
Garber stopped Bridgeport's run-and-shoot offense on their opening drive and got great field position after a short punt.

"Garber brought a lot of intensity in its 41-16 home opener win against the high-powered offense of Bridgeport," said Garber grad and MyBayCity.com photographer Johnny Keuvelaar.

The Dukes were off to an early lead after Josh Pierson scored a 9-yard touchdown less than four minutes into the game and then a 2-yard touchdown before the end of the first quarter. Bridgeport tried to keep up, completing a touchdown and a successful 2-point conversion; but Garber was unstoppable.

In the second quarter the Dukes were going strong with a 32-yard pass from Randon Henika to Justin Zielinski, scoring another touchdown; and Jade Dowdy kicked one of his five extra points for Garber. Andrew Aho scored a 2-yard run and by halftime the Dukes were up 41-8.

In the third quarter Bridgeport scored another touchdown, but there was no doubt that Garber was taking the win. The Bearcats were defeated 41-16.

"Our best defense was our offense," said Coach Dave Schwartz. "Bridgeport has a lot of skill, but we had some nice sustained drives. I'm really proud of our offense.:

Unbeaten Garber will take on the Frankenmuth Eagles September 14 (away).

Garber is now 3-0 after their latest win against Bridgeport.
The Eagles are also 3-0 with their latest win 23-20 against Birch Run; it'll be a game to see with neither team wanting to give up that 3-game winning streak.
