The grass-roots organization of the Eric James Blair Memorial Scholarship Fund has worked hard for the past six years to provide youngsters with information and to draw attention to the dangers of alcohol.

The 2007 fundraiser was held September 9 at the Fairgrounds in Bay City, Michigan. "What we're trying to do," said Konnie Licavoli (Eric Blair's mother), "is to make youngsters aware of the dangers involved with alcohol." Licavoli travels throughout Michigan during the year giving talks on the subject. Licavoli has recently spoken to students at Bay City Central, Bay City Handy and Michigan State University.

Events at this years' included silent auction, face painting, popcorn sales, cotton candy, Moon Walk kids slide and LeCronier's Petting Zoo.

"The sooner we start talking to the kids about alcohol, the better chance we have of getting the right kind of information in their hands," Licavoli said.

The Eric Blair Scholarship Fund has already supplied over 50 scholarships to college students ($50,000) and is involved heavily in both the state and local organizations of Students Against Driving Drunk (SADD).
