Last Weeks program - September 11, 2007:
Rotary Club Assembly

And the Rotarians said "We can do it!".

Chuck Brooks presided over a club assembly where he outlined the upcoming membership campaign. He punctuated each objective and plan with "and the Rotarians said" to which the club answered "We can do it!".

Chuck pointed out that, on average, the club both gains and loses ten members a year. The goal is to increase gain one more member a year then is lost.

This year the club starts with a deficit as more than the usual number of members were lost in the last dues cycle. This was more a factor of demographics and people moving away than the normal attrition the club experiences. The current membership is around 120, where it is normally closer to 128.

The plan over the next few months is to divide the club into teams based loosely on birthdays. Each team will have a leader from the board of directors. Teams will be charged with coming up with proposed names to be presented.

With names of guests in hand, a special meeting will be held where the guests are invited. The purpose of Rotary and the responsibilities of membership will be outlined that day. The programs committee is also planning to have a noteworthy speaker.

It is anticipated that this drive will identify a number of new members and significantly grow the club membership.
