As the All Saints Cougars hit the field to begin their clash with the Bad Axe Hatchets, Captain Ben Latoki (#20) gets his team fired up saying "We've got to come out strong as hell!"
Following his advice the Cougar offense mercilessly assaulted the Hatchets quickly crumbling defense. Despite a 5 yard set back against the Cougars, the determined offense led by Aaron Janer (#33) still managed to score a touchdown, and with deadly precision, Brett Campbell (# 61) sent the PAT soaring through the goal posts to gain the early lead.

Unfortunately for the encouraged Cougars the Bad Axe offense was anything but "Bad" as they unleashed a combination of rushing and passing downs to score their own touchdown. As if to establish their supremacy, they then completed a disheartening two-point conversion for an 8-7 lead.
The Cougars offense sought to earn retribution for their fallen defenders as they began the next Cougar drive with their eyes and hearts, set on nothing but the end zone. However the Hatchets steeled defense had different plans than the Cougars this quarter, and forced the Cougars offense to make a critical error and fumble the ball.
The Hatchets, encouraged by their band's tune of "Let's Go Blue" recovered the stray ball, and the Bad Axe offense again struck another blow to Cougar morale as they racked up 8 more points with another conversion and a touchdown to make the score 16 to 7. The Bad Axe Hatchets commanded the half and were prepared to dominate in the second.
Like a phoenix rising in flame from its own ashes the Cougars came back in the second half with a dazzling display of talent. The Cougars charged out on the field and played perhaps the best they've played all season. The relentless Cougar defense simply refused to let the Hatchets push their team around; the Hatchets never scored again. Likewise, the All Saints Offense set on victory with Aaron Janer (#33) and Kevin Bisel (#11) leading in rushing; allowed Captain Marc Kwapiszewski (#36) to punch in another touchdown, and a decisive comeback came into view for the Cougars.

The Hatchet's offense clashed with the Cougar defense again and again, getting very close, but never tasting the sweetness of a touchdown that would have been the nail in the coffin for the Cougars. The Hatchets stalled by running the football and used up precious time in an attempt to keep the determined Cougars from taking over. (

Finally with only 46 seconds left in the game, a victory came into full view 90 yards down the field when the Cougars recovered a Hatchet fumble on their own 10 yard line. The frenzied Cougar fans stomped their feet on the metal bleachers to create a thundering roar to encourage their team. The game was no longer about running the football, it was about achieving nothing less than a massive comeback victory. The Cougars all-out assault pushed 40 yards forward to midfield where the hopeful Cougars where shut down on their opportunity to win by an untimely interception.
Penalties, fumbles and interceptions hurt the Cougars as they failed to capitalize on a number of opportunities; but out rushing the Hatchets 284 yards to only 152 yards the Cougars Offense proved themselves a force to be reckoned with. Coach Bisel boldly declared that "This was the best display of offense we've seen this year."
The Cougars now have their sights set on a much bigger prize. Playing next Friday on their home turf, the Cougars hope to recover from tonight's upset and claim their first victory at home.
