The road weary Cougars would return home after two away games to meet the challenge of the Elkton-Pigeon-Bayport Lakers. The Cougars planned to dominate the game and get their longed-for home victory, and they hit the field with the intent of giving everyone . . . a football game.

The Cougar defense; that proved themselves against Bad Axe last week, would get to clash with the Lakers offense first. The Cougar fans were optimistic for tonight's game, but shortly after the kickoff the Lakers sailed over the Cougar defense to strike first. The Lakers successfully added two points to their tally with a two point conversion.

But the Cougars quickly proved that they weren't going down in this game. The Cougars clawed the Lakers with a awesome run from Kevin Bisel (11), who then scored All Saints' first touchdown after punching through the Lakers defense on the goal line.

The Cougar fans were amazed by this stellar run from Bisel (#11), and were left longing for the Cougars to claim their lead before the Half came to a close. After a defensive stand, the Cougars offense wasn't about to disappoint the fans, lashing out with an incredible pass from Josh Sutton (1) to Ricky Phillips (32) for a 31 yard touchdown. A quick pass from Sutton to B.J. Weaver (85) added the much needed 2 points. After a fumble recovery, time robbed ASC of the hopes of another touchdown as the clock ran down on the first half.

The Cougars left the field and headed for the locker room leaving the score standing, a little too close for comfort, at 14-8.

The Cougars went on to score another touchdown with a 26 yard run by Aaron Janer (33) in the early moments of the fourth. A failed 2-point conversion left Cougar fans concerned. Lakers came back with a score of their own, leaving the score standing at 20-15 with only four minutes on the clock.

The Cougars never released their hold on the quarter; eventually running the clock down on the Lakers. The fans were driven into a frenzy in the last few seconds of the game as the realization hit them that we had indeed just beat a very good opposing team on our own home ground. Coach Bisel claimed "We've got to beat 'em in that fourth quarter, and that's what we did tonight!"

The Cougars will once again hit the long and winding road as they travel next Friday to Cass City. Coach Bisel stated the fact that, "Cass City is a very big ball club, and a very good team. We're going to have our hands full."

And indeed we are; last year the Cougars beat the Red Hawks during our Homecoming; next Friday Cass City will be seeking revenge, for it is their Homecoming this time around.
