Saginaw Valley League Features Showdown of the Teams With 4-2 Records

Week seven pits unbeaten Millington against Garber (5-1, 4-1) for a share of the Tri-Valley Conference East title.

With one more win the Dukes qualify for the playoffs but it won't be easy Friday against the Cardinals who are averaging more than 40 points per game.

Randon Henika leads his offense against Millington without the help of his starting halfback Josh Pierson who still is suffering from a shoulder injury.

With the Dukes Homecoming this weekend, a half-time tribute to those serving in our armed forces, and the school district celebrating their fifty-year anniversary, we hope coach Dave Schwartz has his Dukes focused on the job of securing a piece of the title and qualifying for the playoffs.


In the Saginaw Valley League the cream will be rising to the top of the league standings after this weeks battles of the 4-2's.

Western will be traveling to Arthur Hill who has had the pleasure of knocking off two undefeated and league leading teams the past two weeks (Mt. Pleasant and Flint Southwestern).


Central Wolves battled the Lumberjacks in week three to a tight 7-6 victory before Arthur hill found their offensive fuse. Mike Schaaf the Lumberjacks quarterback is completing 54% of his passes for over 1200 yards with 15 scoring strikes.

Schaaf has been so efficient because he has Jerrell Wilson running the ball at 5.9 yards a clip, while finding the end zone 7 times.

Bay City Central has been doing it slow and low both offensively and defensively averaging 23 points per game offensively while giving up only 14.

They will be traveling to Saginaw Heritage who has been scoring 31 points per game while giving up 22. So will it be Heritages high scoring "O" or will it be the Wolves re-surgent "D" that determines Fridays winner.


John Glenn (3-2) is still entertaining playoff hopes as it hosts Pinconning (1-5) while All Saints (2-4) will be traveling to Cass City (2-4) looking for their third win.
