Bay City Western was glad to be on their
friendly, "corn field" last Friday against Flint Northern and it showed on the final score; Home 28, Visitors 0.
The win coupled with another over arch-rival Bay City Central next week will give the Warriors their sixth playoff appearance in eight years.
With Westerns defense giving Northern fits all night the offense had plenty of chances to get on track and thats just what Warrior quarterback Matt Grew did.
Grew hit 8 of 10 passes for 143 yards while as a team they rushed for a balanced 154 yards.
Westerns defense enjoyed its second shut out of the season holding Northern to just 162 total yards.
Cory Arnold caught both of Grew's touchdown passes and junior Justin Gwizdala rushed for two more as Western improved to 5-3.
Western now holds their own destiny to make it to the playoffs by notching one more win over at the
unfriendly Wolves den next week.
The match up starts at 7:00 PM at Elmer Engel Stadium but if you go get there early because this one is for bragging rights of Bay City, a league championship and a playoff berth...Are you ready for some football?
