What can only be described as a heartbreaking loss, weighs like a anvil on the Cougars of All Saints. With their record standing at 3 and 5 the Cougars were hoping to end their shaky season on a good note.

The Cougars hit the field with the same intensity we saw from them last week at Homecoming. A key tackle by Senior Mike LaFramboise (#80) forced Carrollton to punt on their opening drive. This opened the offensive door for the Cougar's Captain Marc Kwapiszewski (#36) to break free and blaze down the field to draw first blood with an All Saints touchdown.

After the touchdown, Kevin Bisel (#11) punched in another two points with the conversion. With Cougar supremacy established, the Cougar fans felt that another home victory was in short order.

However, the Cavaliers of Carrollton weren't giving up just yet. The second the Cougars let their guard down, the Cavaliers surged forward to score a shocking touchdown.

Instead of going for the extra two-points, the Cavaliers chose to kick the PAT. The Cougars maintained their lead, but with the Cavaliers only one point behind, the sought after win was fading from the Cougars line of sight.

The All Saints Pom Pon squad performed a fan rousing routine during half time and helped get their "on edge" fans back in the game. With the score hanging in the balance, All Saints fans were hoping that the Cougars would put their fears to rest in the third quarter.

The Cougars hit the field with everything they had left in the third, with Preston Oakes (#5) putting his amazing speed to good use. Oakes flew down the field in a awesome play; he has proved to be a valuable asset to the All Saints team while playing his first Cougar season. The Cougars failed to score though and the scoreboard continued to display its stats in a standstill.

However, the Cougars proved this season that they are most dangerous in the last quarter. To demonstrate this fact, Aaron Janer (#33) slipped by the defenders and scored a much needed touchdown. The Cougars were anything but invincible though, only a few moments later the Cavaliers scored another touchdown to create the second stalemate of the night with the score standing at 14-13.

With precious little time left, the game transformed into a defensive contest. The Cougars defense used everything left in them to hold back the flood of Cavaliers' offense. The Cougars struggled but were unyielding for nearly the rest of the fourth quarter; however, a goal line punt was blocked by the Cavs and they drove that final nail in the Cougar coffin with a big touchdown.

With only two minutes left the All Saints fans were praying for a pass down-field for a saving touchdown. Captain Ben Latocki (#20) came on the field and threw pass, after pass down field; but the Cougars only managed to advance to about midfield. With the clock running down on the Cougars hopes for a final win, they failed to get the first down and turned the ball over to the exuberant Cavaliers as the final seconds ticked away on the Cougar season.

And so the 2007-2008 Cougar football season drew to a close. Coach Bisel claimed, "The record doesn't do this team justice." When asked about the nights bitter loss, Coach Bisel's only thoughts were, "Too many missed blocks, penalties at the wrong time, missed tackles; it just piles up you; and we just didn't have the fire tonight."

Matt Marvin, one of the Assistant Cougar coaches, said, "We were competitive. We did what we could with fourteen guys, and I consider it a good season."

The Cougars had a shaky season ending with their record standing at 3 and 6. Despite their size, and injuries, this team played valiantly, and proved that while you need more people on the team, it's the fellowship and teamwork that matters most.

No matter if the team won or lost; the All Saints Cougar spirit was always there, and the team stuck together and played with the same heart that a team of fifty would have played with.
