They all know how to win, but they all know what it feels like to lose too. And none of them want to feel that way again this season.

Come playoff time its one and done, so erase the records boys because this is your second season and only 256 teams are playing and half will be gone this week. The other half will be playing next week hoping to make a run for Ford Field on November 23 or 24th.

The lone home team playing at home is Bay City Central (7-2) who will host Saginaw Heritage (6-3). BCC beat them the seventh game of the season 28-19, but like I said throw the records away.

Heritage and Central both lost to Mount Pleasant and Midland High early in the season before they righted the ship and made their run to qualify.

Heritage scores a lot of points (32.6 per game) but they give up a lot also (24 per game) whereas BCC is much more about ball control and tempo of the game scoring 24.1 per game while giving up only 15.8.

The Wolves have succeeded in winning games and their league championship with this philosophy and they hope to continue the trend on Friday night at Elmer Engel Stadium.

A shoot out is possible against Heritage as they rushed for the most yards (2269) in the Saginaw Valley League (SVL) while their defense was worst in the SVL giving up 3420 yards.

The balance BCC brings to the game should be too much for the Hawks to handle as they are third in both total offense and defense whereas Heritage isn't even in the top five.

The battle within the battle will be running backs Luther Ware of Central verses Deshawn Hayes of Heritage. Hayes has found the end zone more, 15 to 10 TD's, but Ware gets the nod in total yards 1002 to 908 and yards per carry, 8.1 verses 7.1.

Either way your going to see two great talents in the backfield if you go...make that three as Trenton Robinson of Central has recently been the wolves go to guy work-horse, trampling defenders while leading the Wolves one-two rushing attack.

The passing game may become the deciding factor in this one as the Wolves have almost doubled the Hawks production through the air 1122 to 605. The Wolves quarterback Trenton Martin is poised and due to show off his back of your hand, street football talent and have a break out game.

27 Garber's Jimmy Cornejo returns this kick against John Glenn with blocking from 12 Danny Hages. Garber hopes for a play-off win against Tawas will depend a lot on their ability to run the football.

Essexville Garber (6-3) travels up the coast to meet (7-2) Tawas. Being in separate leagues the only common team each has played is Bangor John Glenn who beat them both by very similar scores.

Neither team won their league titles so this game can make up for some very close losses each endured to their eventual respectful undefeated league champions.

The Dukes have enjoyed a successful program where playoff appearances has almost become expected whereas Tawas is enjoying a resurgence from 0-9 in 05' then 6-4 last season with their first playoff appearance in years, to this years team who is more determined to improve on last years one and done second season.

The Dukes go to guy is Randon Henika at quarterback who seems to have his best games when the pressure is on. There is no greater pressure than playoff football so the Dukes should be all right.

32 Chris Schumann will be looking for open field this weekend against Cheboygan. Above, Schuman breaks through the Garber line on route to this 37 yard touchdown earlier this season..

Bangor John Glenn (5-3) will be crossing the Mighty Mac on their way to play Sault Saint Marie (8-1).

The 8-1 mark may look intimidating to a 5-3 Bobcat team but coupled with their loss to undefeated Cheboygan the Blue Devils opponents winning percentage was only 45.6%.

John Glenn is a perennial powerhouse that also expects to be playing at playoff time, and this 5-3 team proved they are worthy again. Being at 5-3 put the Bobcats at fourth in their region of four playoff teams thus earning their right to play the number one seed Blue Devils.

If they win, which we expect they will the 5-3 Bobcats will more than likely be on the road every week until they get to Ford Field or they lose. We want the Bobcats to enjoy the color tour then tighten up their chin straps and bring a victory back to Bay City.
