The Bay City American Boxing & Athletic Association (A.B.A.A.) presents, Golden Gloves Style Boxing on Saturday, November 10, 2007.

The boxing bouts take place at the Michigan National Guard Armory, located at 2510 E. Wilder Rd., Bay City. First bout beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Approximately 15 bout fight card will be featuring Bay City's Heavyweight Eastern MI Champion, Matt Maciag. Also, Saginaw's State Golden Gloves Champion, Ernie Garza and Flint's State Golden Gloves Champion, Adam Brimmer.

Bob Arsenault, A.B.A.A. Manger/Coach, has been training his boxers for this event in preparation for the upcoming Silver Gloves/ Golden Gloves tournaments and the following Jr. Olympic State & Regional tournaments.

The coaches are proud of the Junior and Senior Boxers and would like to show case them for your entertainment. Arsenault said, "We have had successful teams in the past and are working hard for another year."

The A.B.A.A. Gym is located in the heart of the Midland Street Entertainment District adjacent to New Body Health and Fitness on the corner of Henry & Vermont Streets. Art Dore donates the building and equipment. Former I.B.F. World Super Middleweight Champion, Murray Sutherland is a valued coach of the A.B.A.A. Boxing Team and also manages New Body Health & Fitness.

The fighters have a very rigorous physical training schedule if they wish to become champions. To excel in the sport of boxing requires hours and hard work in the gym; sparring in the training ring, punching a heavy bag, skipping rope and miles of roadwork to build the wind and legs a fighter needs to maintain his stamina.

The sacrifice of weight control, each fighter must qualify for a weight division. The award these boxers receive for their effort is a trophy to the victor and the applause of the crowd.

Arsenault adds, "To climb through the ring ropes in front of hundreds of fight fans requires more than just physical conditioning." "It takes courage and the self confidence gained through a rigid training program." Arsenault continues, "Not only boxers but any athlete in these times are all winners."

Tickets are $15.00 at the door or advance tickets for $12.00 can be purchased at the following locations.
