A score nobody could have predicted, anticipated or even dreamed was up in lights when thousands of fans filed out of Engel Stadium last Friday night.

48-6!!! MIDLAND OVER BAY CITY CENTRAL.

After a 19-13 squeaker that went Midland's way the second game of the season, the lopsided outcome was a surprise, to say the least.

Aided by five uncharacteristic Wolfpack turnovers, four TDs by running back Colter Robinson on the ground and Andrew Maxwell's pinpoint passing, the Chemics took advantage to take the lead in the series 21-20-1.

The win could be considered sweet revenge for Central's 21-20 win over the Chemics in the district championship game last year.

Midland went 4 for 4 (four TDs in under four minutes) in the third quarter to secure the Division 2 district title.

"Things went our way, no question," Midland coach Terry Wilczek told the hometown Midland Daily News after the Central win. "But we capitalized on things. Coaches love it when your team takes advantage of every opportunity. We did a good job of that tonight."

Central Coach Morley Fraser bemoaned his team's mistakes that gave the Chemics good field position time after time.

A four-yard TD run by Trenton Robinson just before halftime that was called back on a holding penalty also hurt doubly when a sack, a stuff and two incomplete passes left the Wolves empty even though they were knocking at the door. Halftime score was Midland 17, Central 6.

Central logged 240 yards total offense, of which 162 yards came on 12 of 37 passing by Martin.

The third quarter four TD barrage wrapped it up and put the scoreboard to blinking like never before in a Midland-Bay City match-up.

The Chemics will face the Davison Cardinals at Midland Stadium next Friday for the regional title and an opportunity to advance to the next rung on the playoff ladder.
