Washington Lanes will host the first Bay Area USBC Association Adult Youth Scholarship tournament on Sunday, November 18 at 2:00 PM.

The handicap event will pair an adult member of the association with a youth member who will each be bowling three games. Winning teams will receive scholarship funds for the YOUTH bowler.

There is no prize fund for the participating adults. The Bay Area USBC Association is contributing $500 to the scholarship prize fund.

Mike Kasperski, Association Manager, indicated the association hopes the event will be filled to capacity which would be 48 teams. Kasperski said, "This is an opportunity for youth bowlers to earn some scholarship funds in a fun event."

Kasperski continued, "It is just one of a variety of events for youth bowlers in our association." Other events include the just completed Tri-City Youth Championship matches with Midland and Saginaw, the Association Annual Tournament in March 2008 and the House Championship Tournament which will be held in March 2008.

President, Deb Besaw, commented that one mandate of merged associations is to provide programs for youth bowlers and the Bay Area Association is taking that requirement seriously.

Besaw said, "The association is looking at an objective to grow the number of youth bowlers in the association and one way is to provide other activities and events with their membership. The Adult Youth Tournament is just one of these activities."
