Lauren Bluhm is a busy girl when it comes to sports, this past December she was busy scoring points and getting rebounds for the Lady Bobcats.

Bluhm has never shied away from competition as she was a Dream Team selection in Volleyball and North East Michigan Conference League MVP last season and County Champion with the Shot-put in Track.

As the Hank Graff Player of The Month of December selection, Bluhm averaged 18.4 points and six rebounds per game in December for the 5-3 Bobcats.

Just like MyBayCity-Graff boys winner Brad Norman, Bluhm's first recollection of organized basketball was at the Bay Area Family YMCA, where in third grade she started her basketball training during the YBA, and then, later at Faith Lutheran.

When asked who her most influential coach was, her reply was again familiar. "My dad Rob Bluhm was the most influential in my basketball," was her first reply. "Then, I guess Chadd Cunningham at Faith Lutheran," she continued. "And my mom in YBA, who coached with my friend's mom Terri Vittitow," she added.

Lauren Bluhm is a girl that knows her history and remembers those responsible for her athletic success.

Best game in December? "That had to me my game against Ogemaw Heights where I had 24 points and eight blocked shots, and we won," Bluhm said.

Bluhm's favorite players at the college level are "Drew Nietzel at MSU and Blake Griffin at Oklahoma are both real good players I like to watch."

Her basketball training also included training and exposure at the CMU and MSU basketball camps since the eighth grade. All that early training has paid off for the third year varsity hoop star as the Bobcat program is enjoying a resurgence this season and she is a big part of it.

Although just a junior, this Lady Bobcat can't help but look to her college basketball future. "I don't think about it a lot," Bluhm said. "But I would like to go to MSU, but we will see what happens," she replied.

As the December MyBayCity-Graff The Player of The Month for December 2007, the Staff at Hank Graff and MyBayCity.com salutes Lauren Bluhm, and we hope the recruiters at MSU get their chance to see this and your fine athleticism in the near future.
