After a three-year wait, the teenage wizzard has returned in the fifth book in the series by British author J.K. Rowling. According to Kris Hebert, manager of the Bay City B. Dalton store, this book was the first to reach the 1 bestseller position even before it was released. Hebert could not reveal the number of coipes that the store has in stock, but she agreed that it was "a lot".

The Bay City B. Dalton store opened at 8:00 am Friday morning. A crowd was waiting outside the Mall when the doors opened. The Barnes and Noble store in Saginaw held a party late Friday night and put their book on sale at 12:01am. Reports were that the store filled to capacity and had to lock the doors and turn away some customers.

First in line at the Bay City store was Trevor Hunter. When asked how early he came, Hunter said that he and his mother just arrived. They noticed that the south mall doors were being opened so they came in that way. The main door was opened next which put Hunter first in line.

Second and Third in line were 4th graders Kara Francke and Brooke Chamerlain. Francke said that she read the first book when she was in the first grade. Now she'll be going into the fifth grade and is reading the fifth book.

The Bay City crowd represented all age groups. Some adults were buying their own copy, most were buying for children or grand children. Bill Herrera of Bay City said that he's the early riser in his family so he agreed to get an early copy. Teenager Crysta Clarey (photo below) said that she asked for her first Harry Potter book for Christmas. Her mother bought the fourth book. Crysta then had to get the other three. She was near the front of the line for this fifth book.
